Support Security Essentials on Windows XP Extended

Despite already having three generations , Windows XP is still used a lot of people. Though Microsoft has been trying hard to turn off the old operating system. Ultimatum that Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP per 8 April this year has also been raised. Even update Security Essentials is also reported to be abolished.

But it looks like Microsoft's stance softened. The company announced it will extend the update for the antimalware signatures and search for Windows XP until July 14, 2015. This means that Microsoft Security Essentials will remain active and patched up to one and a half years! For the enterprise , this protection will involve System Center Endpoint Protection , Forefront Client Security , Forefront Endpoint Protection , and Windows Intune.

Even so , Microsoft warns that users should not be complacent with the antimalware updates in XP. " Our research shows that the effectiveness of anti-malware solutions operating systems are not supported anymore limited. Running well shielded solution must be preceded by using modern software and hardware are designed to help provide protection against the threat of today , "wrote Microsoft posts.

Bottom line, if you are still using Windows XP , do not forget to immediately upgrade to a newer version.
